Had Dr. O Dowd as a lecturer in Chemistry and was always helpful with any outstanding questions I had for elements of chemistry outside in the world.
Dr. O Dowd is and always will be sorely missed.

I'm assuming this is the Michael O'Dowd I met and worked with when we taught science together in Carlow RTC (as it was then) in the mid-70s, before we went our separate ways in the IT circuit. If so, I've never forgotten him and his genial personality: I found him a very gentle soul, and we shared a great love of music (I still remember some of his remarks to me about the Bach Matthew Passion after 50 years"). Someone who can influence you in such a manner has to be a very special individual. So, my sympathies to his family and his many friends far and wide on his passing. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis. RIP Michael.
