My deepest sympathies to your family. I had the privilege of being his student at St. Pats. As I was an exchange student he was extremely impactful during my time there and I still remember our conversations. He will be missed.

His passion, kindness, and wisdom reached far beyond the classroom, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have learned from him. Being in his class was a privilege I will always cherish. My sincerest condolences to Kate and to all of Noel’s family. He was one of the kindest and most gentle souls I have ever met. Whenever I think of Carlow College, he is at the heart of that experience. Noel was an exceptional mentor who inspired me throughout my time there and played a significant role in shaping me to become the teacher I am today. I often find myself quoting his lines from lectures almost 10 years later. He always had a kind word and time to listen to everyone. Noel was inspiring in his words, a true gentleman. He was the brightest light and an inspiration to all in his lecturers. He will be sorely missed by all. May he rest in peace.

So very sorry to learn that Noel has passed. I attended a two-day course on Philosophy for Children taught by Noel several years ago. That was my only experience with him, but his name and his face have stayed with me. He was so passionate about his work, and such a friendly and down to earth educator. That course is part of why I am now teaching philosophy as a TY module. Thank you for your contribution to educating our young people, Noel. Sincere condolences to his wife Kate and his family. So sad to hear that Noel has passed away. He was a great lecturer, always very passionate and genuine. He wasn't just genuine with lectures but also with always being there for students for support if needed. So full of energy and life. He helped to make Carlow College what it was and is through his contributions. His talk on Descartes in Carlow in June 2024 is one thing that comes to mind. My sincere sympathy to his wife, parents, sister and wider family. Will keep you all in my thoughts now. Will be lighting a candle for him later this evening. He has left some legacy behind. Noel was one of the kindest and friendliest people in Carlow College, always greeting everyone with a warm smile. He helped me greatly in so many aspects of life, and I will always be grateful for his guidance and generosity. He was a true gentleman, with a remarkable way with words, and he will be deeply missed.

My sincerest condolences to Noel's family. He is and always will be, quite simply, the brightest of all light. He will always remain in my writing and my work, and live on through it. I wouldn't be where I am today without him; he inspired me to become a teacher, and now I often quote some of his wise words in my classes.

To Kate - in my final year of my undergrad in Carlow, when Noel was my supervisor, our discussions would often drift and I don't think I can remember one chat I had with him where he did not talk about his immense, unwavering love for you. My thoughts are with you.
