Dr. Noel MURPHY

Noel was a friend and a colleague. He also lectured to me when I was a student in Chemical Engineering in my final year in 1972. He had just returned from the US and I always remember his blue Ford Mustang which regularly appeared in Merrion Street. He was a great lecturer and he brought Automatic Control to life for me. I heard of his death a few days ago and was sorry to miss his funeral.

My deepest sympathies to the Murphy family. With his keen analytical mind Noel inspired me during my undergraduate years in UCD Chemical Engineering and later when I joined the staff in the Department/School he was a great help to me in a variety of subject areas. He will be greatly missed for his intelligence and incisive wit.

Deepest condolences to the Murphy family on the death of Noel. He was a wonderful man, a great teacher and his curiosity and humour was inspiring.

Dear Mary Melissa Anita & Mark , I know it’s been tough with Noel being unwell the last few years but Can’t begin to tell you how sad we are about Noel’s Passing. We feel
Very lucky to have had Noel in our lives as he has been a great friend to us over the years. we treasure the memories we spent with both Noel & Mary socialising with them especially the times at the Radisson for drinks on Saturday nights and back to no 6 for supper etc afterwards discussing all the problems of the world. He was also a great cook and together with Mary we were lucky to enjoy 5 star meals there on many occasions.
Noel contributed so much to this country in every sense especially as professor of Chemical engineering at UCD .
Above all else Noel was a great husband and partner to Mary and so proud of his children and his family especially his adoring grandkids . Noel will
