My sincere sympathy to all the Ashe family on your very sad loss. Paddy was a true gentleman and a very nice person. I personally got to know him very well over the 30 years that he provided a diagnostic service to the Forest Service of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, during which time he provided such a dedicated professional service. I unfortunately missed his funeral but I was glad, though sad, to have been able to have watched the lovely and fitting ceremony online from France. I will miss Paddy. May he rest in peace.

Only just heard of Paddy's passing. Such sad news. Very fond memories of Paddy from his many years in Zoology, Trinity. A gifted entomologist, and an even more gifted person.

Dear Bernard, Brendan, Fergus & Máire. Our sincere sympathy on the loss of dear Pádraig. We were unable to make the funeral today unfortunately but watched it online. A beautiful ceremony including the music. A very fitting tribute to a life well lived. You spoke very eloquently Fergus, Pádraig would've been proud.

Sincere condolences to all the family on the death of Pádraig. His Funeral Mass was a beautiful tribute to his extraordinary range of accomplishments and interests. Fergus did him proud in sharing with us Pádraig’s scientific contributions in zoology, especially his acknowledged expertise on the insect species Corynoneuro. His work was recognized by the Chinese Hubei University. Most poignant for me to only learn this at his funeral as my uncle a Franciscan Missionary had his parish in the Province of Hubei. The Irish funeral is forever a revelation of the variety of gifts among us. Pádraig was a most congenial neighbour. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Very sad to hear the news of Paddy's passing. He was a regular office mate for us in Natural History Education, coming in every Friday to do a bit of research, and share some stories and often some of his delicious baking (his Christmas cake recipe will be getting a turn this year!). An incredibly kind, warm, funny, and most encouraging friend. He is remembered fondly and will be very much missed. Emma
