Rest in Peace Dr Patrick, you will be missed... Condolences for his family and friends
Just heard the sad news about Dr. Patrick. My sincere condolences to his family. He was a wonderful doctor, always had time to listen and give sensible, practical advice. He loved to talk about whatever was happening in the world. He was a highly intellectual man and could discuss any subject including theoretical physics. He loved listening to the WNZK radio station streaming from the USA and would talk about some of the funnier items discussed on the radio programme. He will be greatly missed.
Dr. Patrick,
So shocked to hear this, you were a pillar of strength, reliance, common sense and decency that certainly represented your practise, a great medical centre and a credit to your memory. R.I.P.

The Doctor
I was saddened to hear of your passing
It was only days before you came to mind
The laughs we had in the surgery
That sort of treatment is the best kind
Not only that but you gave me your time
A priceless thing we all possess but few of us give
You helped so many people, for that they will never forget
Those memories of kindness will echo for as long as I live
Our life on this planet is just a cosmic blink
In your time you achieved so much
And to have known you is an honor
So goodbye for now, and when it's my turn to pass
I'll make an appointment to see you my friend the doctor

I met Patrick on one occasion only and he was very kind and caring. I am so sorry for your loss.
Shock and saddened to hear of the death of Dr Patrick, he was a brilliant Doctor and lovely man. Our deepest condolences to all of his family, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. RIP Dr Patrick xx
It has been almost 30 years since I've last seen Pat and I am sorry to hear of his passing.
We were high school teammates at Lawrence Park CI in many sports. He was an exceptional athlete.
My last acquaintance was in 1987 or 88 when Pat and I met at the University of Toronto in the annual Intramural Track and Field Championship. It was an epic battle with Pat winning every event he contested and I very wisely entered every single vent knowing I needed small points to beat him for the magnificent trophy! It was great to go head to head one more time! I believe Pat was the champion the following year! A tremendous accomplishment!
He will be missed by his old Canadian chums and I am very sorry for your loss.

So sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Patrick. Will be sadly missed.
My dearest darling Patrick. Although we haven't seen each other in many years (decades) now. My memories of you and our friendship are paramount. You have been one of the very special people in the course of my life. We found each other and discovered the same spirit of wonderlust as teenagers and young adults. You are one of the most beautiful and intelligent people I have had the honour to know and love. I was always in awe of you; your positivity, your tenacity, your intellect, your worldly knowledge and your profusion of talents . I remember you could juggle! You seemed to be able to do anything.
But most of all, we had that kind of friendship where we could share our souls and we did.
To all the family you leave behind, especially your wife and children and Pete and Vivienne, please know I send my heartfelt sympathies for this profound loss.
RIP and God bless Patrick. My little solace is knowing that you can hang with my momma now and all the other most amazing people who are in heaven with you. xoxo love always Mo

Although I only knew Patrick through being one of his patients, I will never forget the positive impact and support that he had for me, at a time of great sadness in my own familys life,
Patrick you were without doubt the most professional physician I have attended, yet you also had the most wonderful way with your patients. Once you found out about my own background, it made me look forward to a visit as you would demonstrate and share your stories about Linux and show me the apps that you had on your computer. Thankyou for all of your kindness and impecible medical care and understanding to both me and the wider community, you did the medical community a great service during your too short time in this world.
To Patrick's family and friends, I've never met you, but you must know how sad this makes me and many like me feel, for you all, Patrick will always be fondly remembered and you are all in our prayers and thoughts. His memory will live on in our hearts and in the heart of Balbriggan.

So saddened and shocked to hear of Patrick’s death- a wonderful, kind, compassionate doctor and a genuinely caring gentleman. He always went beyond the role to have a chat, tell a story or engage in an interesting discussion. Mostly though,my enduring memory of him is how he talked about Tanya and the kids, how much he loved them & their life. I will miss him and am sure I will not find his kind again. May he Rest In Peace & may Tanya & his children find the strength to cope with this tragic loss.
So sorry to hear of Dr Patricks death, my condolences to his family. He was a gentleman and a wonderful doctor. He always made time to have a chat and lighten your mood no matter what was wrong. He had a great personality, I will miss having him as my doctor..
So sad to hear the news of the passing of Dr. Patrick. Such a kind doctor and a gentleman. My young daughter loved going to see you and always felt reassured if she was sick and I said we were going to see Dr. Patrick. She always loved looking at the skeleton in the office with the scarf on and the pictures of your family. You always had a personal story to tell of your own experience, taking the time to listen and never made anyone feel like we were taking up your time. Thank you for being a great doctor you will be missed. Condolences to your family, friends and colleagues.
It is such an unfair loss for the world when people of utmost value leave us for Heaven.
May Dr. Patrick O’ Mathuna Rest In Peace with knowledge that we are all so grateful to have ever known him and to have ever had him impact our lives.
To the doctor who trusted me with his patients during my work experience, who inspired me to follow my dreams and who would have been the first person to find out when I got into medical school - Thank you. I hope that you are in a better place now.

Condolences to the Family and Friends of Dr. Patrick. An amazing GP and a warm, caring Man who was a friend to all his patients. Thanks for looking after Our Family down the years.
I first met Dr Patrick a few years ago. I limped into his Surgery and he looked up at me with a wry smile and said, "This looks bad." I laughed, even though I was in pain. That's what Dr Patrick did ...he made you smile and feel at ease. He told me many stories about his life and his time at medical school. He was great to me and my wife and he loved our 5 year old twin daughters. They would almost trash his Consulting room in their excitement to play with all the medical instruments and the Skeleton he kept hanging from a hook. He just laughed and always gave great advice. He was a brilliant Physician and a brilliant man. I can't believe he's gone. Feel deeply saddened. RIP Dr Patrick.

We were both deeply saddened to hear the news of Pat's passing through our good friend Chris Wong. Our deepest sympathies to Tanya, their three boys, and the families. Pat was a dear friend of ours who also happened to hail from Canada. We shared some epic memories during our years as medical students at RCSI. We will never forget Pat's good nature and all the laughter we shared together. Pat had this boyish enthusiasm about him, and a special gift for making us all feel excited about some of the most trivial things. We miss you buddy. May your soul RIP.
R.I.P. Patrick.

Deepest sympathy. Patrick was a wonderful compassionate and understanding doctor for my family. My children adored him and I will always remember his kindness. I am so very sorry for your loss.
My friends and brothers and I had great great fun growing up in Toronto together. Patrick was an integral part of this group and led us in many great adventures. We grew up in a time when kids took off on their bikes in early summer mornings and made their way home grubby and exhausted just in time for dinner. We played hard and loved a great game of hide and seek --- indoors and out. We ventured to Hanlan’s Point on muggy summer days, competed fiercely in Capture the Flag tournaments in Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens, cycled through Blythwood Ravine to Sherwood Park and played chase through Mt. Hope cemetery, once narrowly avoiding capture by security personnel.
Back in these ol days of innocence, the sewer tunnels in the ravine system were open and kids could straddle the small creek that ran through venturing deep into the damp darkness within. We challenged ourselves to go further until we could no longer see daylight and would then run back to the safety of friends and the outdoors. I recall Patrick always venturing the farthest – he was our fearless leader.
As I write this I am flooded with fondest memories of Patrick (and Peter) and a youth filled with best friends and truly great times. I am so heartened to know that Patrick went on to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor and that he has made a difference in the lives of his patients. He was truly one of a kind and I am grateful that he was a part of my childhood.

Dear Vivien,
Patrick was proud of his family and of his maternal and paternal roots.
As children, we were always welcome in your home and I remember you adoringly saying to him, “my Pat!”
You were a strong working woman and an amazing role model for your sons (and for us!). Both of your beautiful sons grew up to be lovely, gentle men. You and David must be so very proud.
My twin sister and I have such good memories of the antics we all got into, many of which were spearheaded by Patrick. Some good ideas, some bad! It was a lifetime ago but we are all shaped and grounded by them.
Vivien, Peter, David, Tanya and Patrick’s sons, please accept our sincerest and most heartfelt condolences. He lived and loved well and has been taken much too early.
Much love to you all at this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Patrick O'Mathuna. I had the great fortune to meet Patrick at Bedford Park Public School in Toronto in the early 1970's. We were in the same class in grades 4,5,6 and 7. Patrick and I were best friends at that time and enjoyed many adventures together. We hung about on Unsworth Avenue and played tag, chase and hide and seek with the other children. One of my favourite memories was when Patrick and I rode our bicycles downtown to watch the construction of the CN Tower. Patrick was very popular in our neighbourhood and had many friends. He was quite athletic and was the fastest sprinter in our school. Patrick always told me he wanted to be a doctor and I am proud of his accomplishments." Oma" will be remembered fondly.
I offer my condolences to his family in Toronto, who I was fortunate to know as a child, and in Ireland.

So sad to hear of the passing of Dr Patrick! He was a sweet, kindhearted old school doctor who took time to listen to his patients and treated them with dignity and respect! An all round gentleman! May he rest in eternal peace and may his family be blessed with comfort in this sad time!
I can't believe he is gone, what a wonderful person and what a loss!! Forever helpful and caring - he remembered you even if you only visited him once a year. Smart, funny and knowledgeable - he will be very much missed.
Still in shock at this very sad news. Met Dr. Patrick some years ago after finishing in the Defence Forces. He became my one and only GP, purely for his attention, friendship and Medical help and advice, all these years. to me and especially, my daughter Lyndsay and all my Family in Balbriggan. Heaven has gained in getting Patrick, and we have lost a great man, Friend, and Father to his Family. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace Patrick
Devastated and saddened. Dr Patrick was our family doctor for years and will be deeply missed. He was a great doctor and above all a wonderful person. Our sincere condolences to his family & friends. Rest in peace Dr.Patrick.
Sincere condolences to the O'Mathuna family and co-workers.We are very shocked and saddened to hear the new. Dr. Patrick will be remembered with great respect and in a positive caring way, just as he treated our family. He was our doctor throughout the years and watched our family grow. Rest in peace Dr. Patrick. We will always remember you xxxx
Sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Patrick, who was so kind, gentle and patient with our children. May he rest in peace.
Our most heartfelt condolences to Tanya and the boys. Dr Patrick was more than just a doctor to our family, he was a friend. Rest in peace. A good man gone too soon.
Sending our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Dr Patrick. He has been our family doctor for a long time and was always so good with our girls. So shocked and will truly miss him. May he rest in peace x
When I met Patrick we were both 7 years old. Pat and Peter were part of a large Unsworth Ave tribe of kids and we roamed the neighbourhood making up games and looking for adventure. I have many fond and funny memories of Pat which I wish I could share with his good friends in Ireland. Suffice to say I look upon that time in our lives as full of wonder and discovery. I was glad to have had "Oma" to share them with.
Even as a young boy he aspired to become a doctor often holding up his hands and in his deepest and most resonant voice announced that they were the "hands of a surgeon!". As kids we rolled our eyes and laughed. When I found out that he had actually achieved his goal of being a physician I have to say I was genuinely pleased and proud for him. My condolences to Vivian who was always patient and kind and to Peter who was his brothers keeper and to the rest of his family. He is missed.

A Doctor we regarded as a friend, an absolute genius and a specialist to his patients. So sad to lose him and so sad for Tanya, the boys and his family and friends. We will never ever forget him and hope he knew how much we valued him as a Doctor, confidante and a caring friendly professional. Rest in Peace, Patrick. There was nobody like you.
Farewell Pat. May you rest in peace. I am truly shocked and grieved. I remember with fondness good times we shared with mutual friends when we were junior doctors. My sincere condolences to Tanya and all your family. May they have the strength to continue without you.
Devasted and lost for words on hearing of Dr.Patrick's passing. He was One of a kind! My deepest condolences to his family & friends. He will be so deeply missed. Rest in peace Dr.Patrick. God Bless.
