Sorry to hear recently about the passing of Paul & condolences to his wife Teresa & the extended Hayes family. We were colleagues in NCI in Ranelagh & IFSC & he would often stop & chat at Reception as he passed. He had a great sense of humour. May he RIP.

Paul was a class mate of mine in Dungarvan CBS during the early 80's until we did our leaving in 1986, of which we have fond vivid memories of his great humour.
He returned for the various enjoyable class re-unions we had and the Leaving Cert Class of 1986 will remember him forever.

I spent the ages of 8 to 14 up the Grove in Abbeyside playing football on the road with Joe and Paul Hayes. The gate of their home was the goal. In between playing the World Cup or the FA Cup final, we traded World Cup 78 cards bought in Danny's Shop. If no ball was available we played kerb ball, block, and 52 Bonkers. They were great times. I am so so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. My condolences to his wife and family.

I was very sorry to hear of Paul’s untimely death . I have known Paul for many years as a colleague in NCI in Ranelagh and in the IFSC . He was a special person who had a great sense of humour , an educator who had a real interest and concern for students . He was a person who listened and had a warmth that radiated all his relationships. We had many a lively discussion and debates over the years . Paul was a friend and a colleague for over ten years. We had some great chats and laughs over the years. Paul was highly articulate and intelligent and we will miss his wit and humour. I would like to express my condolences to Pauls wife and family. Paul was a friend and a colleague. He taught me a lot, he knew how things worked. We had a few good nights laughing and joking about the woes of the day. I will miss him.

My cousin Peter from Donabate told me the sad news of Pauls passing. We ran the Adelante bar in Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote and met Paul at Christmas time, a few years ago whilst he was on holiday. He made a big impression and was very good company. Turns out he knew my first cousin from Smyths pub.

Paul was a very valued member of the National College of Ireland community. He worked as a lecturer for over 20 years in our School of Computing and made an extremely valuable contribution to the work of NCI over the years. All the staff in NCI will really miss Paul and are deeply saddened by his passing. NCI would like to offer our sincere condolences to his wife Teresa, his siblings and his wider family and friends. I am so sad to hear of Paul's death. My sincere condolences to Xuehua, Paul's family and friends and to all of his work colleagues and students from over the years who had the joy and honour of knowing him. Many's the long chat on Friday evenings in McSorleys, Ranelagh (in times past, when we had the time and youth to enjoy such things). Easy company, bright intelligence, great humanity and a dry and dark sense of humour. This is how I will remember you Paul.
