Anne & Family

Sorry to learn of the loss of your husband and dear father. RIP
I once heard someone say that the people in our lives preach our funeral. I believe this is true. Reading the sentiments of the many condolence messages it is clear that Peter has left behind a legacy that his family can be very proud of as he clearly touched the lives of so many people who appreciated having him in their life either as a doctor, colleague or friend. He has left a legacy of love from people who liked and admired him greatly. Rest in Peace
Reading all the previous words of condolence written for Dr. Peter O'Callaghan this poem immediately came to mind because the many messages written all highlight a man who lived a good life and made a real difference in this world and clearly many are sorry now that he has passed away. And whilst Peter was taken suddenly what matters is 'Not, How Did He Die, But How Did He Live?'

Not, How Did He Die, But How Did He Live?

Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away.
