Dr. P.J Gannon

Dear Helen and family, and Nora, I wish to offer you all my sincere sympathy on your beloved Dr. P.J's passing. He was a thorough gentleman. I have lovely memories of himself and you Helen so many years ago in the then Reg. Hosp.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

I will always remember the excitement when PJ, Helen and our cousins would arrive from St Louis to our house in Shannon.

The smell of rashers and sausages cooking on the pan; our kitchen filled with family, laughter, chat and joy during the annual reconnection of our families.

My memory of PJ will be of his smile and wit as he told his stories with great humour. Not to mention the glint in his eye as he teased us with all his challenging and sometimes impossible riddles....All the while over a succession of pots of tea and laughter in our kitchen in Shannon during those happy visits home.

Fond memories also of PJ bringing us to The Muny at Forest Park; for evening swims at McKenzie and fun serving slushies with him at the swim meet when we were in St Louis. Happy times.

He will be remembered often here.

I've known P.J. for a very long time through his music-playing and Comhaltas membership and heard so much about the great branch of Comhaltas, St. Louis Irish Arts, that he and Helen founded many decades ago, teaching a multitude of young Americans to play and enjoy Traditional Irish Music to a very high degree - many winning prizes at the All-Ireland Fleadh down through the years.
To say that P. J. was a very, very nice man, is indeed putting it mildly and I've no doubt, that was of tremendous benefit to him professionally as well as to his patients. Needless to say it helped him teach our music as well.
He now joins so many of the 'greats', who have also gone to Heaven before him.
