Sincere condolences to Rory's wife & family, He was a marvelous doctor & a true gentleman to our family back in the mid/late 60's when our sister was diagnosed with terminal illness. He showed kindness & empathy to our family in so many ways over the years, R.I.P Rory.

We knew Rory as our family doctor, and later as our local public representative, and he always struck me as being an absolute gentleman, and a humble man of integrity. My dad, Joe, R.I.P, had the highest regard for Rory and was a dedicated 'Rory-man', canvassing for him with fierce zeal at each election time. He would have been so sad to hear the news of Rory's passing. May Rory's gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Rory was a man of great kindness and quiet dignity. In every role – as a GP, a public representative and Ceann Comhairle – he brought the same qualities of compassion, fairness and genuine concern for others. He gave outstanding service to his community in Carrickmacross and to the country over many decades, and he did so without ever seeking the limelight for himself.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him will remember a courteous, generous and deeply decent gentleman who always had time for people.
