Saddened to hear the news of the "Docs" passing. What a top class doctor he was particular at diagnosing . He received a Gold Medal in Medical school from UCD many years ago. He was very good to our family over many years.A keen sportsman and later in Politics. A massive loss to Cashel & his family . May he Rip.

I was so sad to hear of the death of Sean "The Doc", and indeed of Mary Jo a few years ago. I knew them both well in the 1970's when I was a teenager. Sean had his surgery in my family home Copperfield House, Cashel. I have fond memories of every summer helping my Mum run this increasingly busy surgery between doing the books, answering the phone and making Sean endless cups of tea that he would have between patients. To Eoin. Caitriona, John, Aiden and Maria my heartfelt condolences to you all. You may not remember me but I babysat you all many times when In the late 1970's. Sean may you rest in peace with your lovely Mary Jo.

Seán was an inspirational figure to us in Cashel Ógra. His support and guidance was always appreciated and we will miss him dearly. We would like to offer our deepest condolences to his loving family at this time. RIP Seán.

Deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Seán McCarthy. Seán was a dedicated public representative, committed to serving the public at every level. He was the first Minister that had named responsibility for science, and then Taoiseach Charles Haughey took a keen interest in his brief. He held monthly meetings with Seán to be kept up to date. Seán was somebody the party organisation looked up to for leadership and guidance. I will always be grateful for the support that he gave me. The people of Tipperary are grateful for his substantial contribution over several decades in many capacities. May he rest in peace.
