Sincere sympathies to all of Tom's family. I met Tom through his work on Irish coin design. He was always so helpful, incredibly knowledgeable and great company, added to that his dedication and commitment to the task in hand made working with him easy. He will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to Mary and family on Tom's passing. Let us also celebrate Tom's life; he has left a great legacy behind him and he enriched the lives of many people. My most vivid personal memory is when he and I, just the two of us, 'went on the town' in Budapest, Hungary, to celebrate Tom's 70th birthday in September 2000 when we were on a visit to Hungary with a group of colleagues from the Irish Grand Priory of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem. I remember Tom's joy on that occasion!!!! May he enjoy eternal bliss, and may we meet again 'at the other side of the veil'. Con

How sad to read that Tom has died. I was very young when my late father- Don Clancy Principal of the Municipal Technical Institute on O’Connell Avenue - where Tom attended and subsequently taught Art- brought me to an exhibition in the City Library in Perry Square. It was my first connection with Tom’s paintings. My father held him in such high regard and always recognised his wonderful artistic ability. I am the proud owner of one of his paintings “Stacking Apples” which I cherish. Tom also presented me with a sketch he had done in Luton Airport in 1991.
So great to have such memories.
Leaba I measc na naomh go raibh aige.

I would like to express my sincere sympathy to Mary and the extended Ryan family on the death of Tomås.
We grew up together in Davis Street, Limerick. Although Tomås was nearly 16 years older than me we were friends and and he would grab me on the street and cycle, with me on the bar of his bike up to his studio in the Technical School in O'Connel Avenue where I had to sit for him. After several sittings he presented me with a portrait of myself which is very proudly hanging in my daughters house in Dublin. He never allowed me to see any work he was doing until it was finished. In hindsight I enjoyed those occasions although when sitting was always told "don't move".

Deeply saddened at Tom's passing, one of Limerick's favourite sons, artist supreme, raconteur and wit, Freeman of the city and Honorary Doctorate from the University. As we say in Limerick
" One of our own". I have known him from his days living in Rathmines and it was always a pleasure to meet him when he returned home to Davis street for functions in the city. Luckily i hold two of his works and he once presented me with a print by the famous Harry Kernoff which I treasure. Therefore it is with sadness that I send my condolences to his wife Mary and his family in Ashbourne, his sister Nuala and brothers Denis and Justin. May his gentle soul rest in peace in that great studio in the sky.

Dear Mary and family. Lauri and I watched dear Tom's funeral live and were glad to see he was paid the respect by the state and the the arts as he deserved, as well as by his many friends and much loved family. We chatted for ages about his kindness, his originality and his talent. I recalled the day of my graduation from NCAD when he (the guest of honour as president of the RHA in his full regalia,)stood up on his chair and cheered when I was presented with my degree, much to the envy of the other students! That was the kind he was. Lauri recalled how supportive he was when her sister died and we both recalled the dinner parties at her house at Christmas times of which we shared lots of lovely anecdotes! He will be much missed by us and so many and we both send our deepest condolences to you and all the family.
Deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Aengus and all the Ryan family & friends.
Sincere condolences to Mary and the wider Ryan family on the passing of Tom. He was a generous friend to us in the society, a fantastic speaker and national treasure. May he rest in peace.
On behalf of the Numismatic Society of Ireland I send our sincere condolences to Tom's family. We enjoyed Tom's company so much over the years.
Condolences to Mary and family. For nearly 40 years I framed Tom's magnificent art. I would have met him on a weekly basis and we became very good friends. I learned so much from him and I will miss him. He will live on through his art.
My sincere sympathy to Justin and the extended Ryan family on the death of Tom. Limerick people should be very proud of him and for his contribution to the arts and culture of the city. May he rest in peace.
