Billy was like family to us, we loved him dearly, we are truly devastated.

I have so many fond memories of Billy, which all include laughter, whether he was regaling me with a funny joke or limerick, singing a funny song he thought was apt to my life, or mainly trying to wind up my mum, there was always laughter in the air, especially his, he always laughed the hardest at his own jokes!

As a doctor he was second to none, the medical field has lost a great man. We always felt supported and knew we were in the very best of hands.

I can’t put into words how much he has done for our family over the years, he has had a huge impact on our lives. Billy was always kind and welcoming and was always ready with a witty retort. Amidst the laughter there was always a pearl of wisdom offered or a thoughtful insight that gave great guidance and reassurance. I really cannot express how deeply we will miss him.

In his honour I will endeavour to read more poetry, drink some red wine (make sure it’s a good bottle I can hear him say) laugh more, learn more French and try and have the joie de vivre that he had.

So long dear friend you will be truly missed, our loss is heavens gain, there will be a lot more laughter in heaven once you pass through the pearly gates. May you rest in peace.
