I wish to express my deepest sympathy to all of Dr Carr’s family . I was an SHO in Obstetrics at Portiuncula in 1982 . The dedication & respect he gave to his patients was inspiring . He has left an amazing legacy .

Mentor in Portiuncula hospital (1989/90).He was a great teacher and a compassionate man.He not only trained us in our speciality but also instilled the importance of service to the humanity.The last time I met him and Audrey was in Adelaide,Australia. Rest in peace

Very sorry to hear of Dr Carr’s death. He was such a dedicated doctor and teacher who inspired everyone in his team to raise their game. The patient was always at the centre of his care. Sincere condolences to the Carr family on Conor’s sad passing. As a child in Ballinasloe I remember him starting as an obstetrician in PUH. His son Nicholas was in my class at school. Later as an undergraduate I did my obstetrics and Gynaecology attachment there and he was a wonderful teacher. More recently he has been hugely involved in rugby. He has left a tremendous legacy on so many fronts, not least in his contribution to medical practice in Ireland. May he rest in peace.

It was with great sadness that I read today of Dr Conor's passing. My deepest and sincerest condolences to you Audrey , your family and extension family. My thoughts are with you at this very sad time.
When I graduated from UCD in 1968 my first appointment was as an intern in Portiuncula hospital. There were four interns, two surgical , two medical.
Interns were not allocated to the obstetric department, only SHOs. However as well as the surgical and medical consultants Dr Conor and his colleague Dr Stanley Hewitt also took us under their wings. They encouraged us, inspired confidence and invited us along to their lectures. We experienced the introduction of Epidural anaesthesia pioneered by Dr Pat Kelly. We assisted occasionally at C Sections and also rhesus babies blood transfusions. It was an amazing learning curve which stood us in great stead for our future careers.
Conor was an exceptional obstetrician, kind , caring never judgmental and very highly respected by staff and patients alike.
To say that he was an amazing human being would be a major understatement.
All this was trebled by a fantastic sense of humour.
I have to say that the lunch breaks in the dining room were very enjoyable. I could say a laugh a minute with Conor being a major contributor.
Although a long time ago I remember him with great fondness and respect.
It was a privilege to have known him
