To the Hegarty family, sincerest condolences and sympathies. I’ve know Eamon since his time in ‘Slumberland House’ but then as a beloved colleague tour guide. It was always a cherished joy to meet him on the road or anywhere, to abair na cúpla focail or chat. His love of, and pride in his wife and family immense, though his joy and devotion to his grandchildren bottomless. I’m shocked to hear of his passing and will miss one of life’s gentlemen, one who always made me feel better, happier and richer every time me parted. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. As on old neighbour, I had many chats with Eamon down through the years and bumped in to him from time to time afterwards and he always had time to chat. Heartfelt condolences on the death of cousin Eamon and apologies that we were not able to join with you today in person although we are with you online.

It is such a beautiful celebration and memorial of Eamon's life and it is so clear the impact that he and Clodagh had and continue to have on their children & grandchildren - a reflection of the impact of their parents and grandparents and further back no doubt.

I read an article on Monday just after I heard of Eamon's death where John Andrew Gallery quotes the words of the poet Khalil Gibran in a section of The Prophet 'On Children':

"You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer’s hand be for gladness."

I am truly sorry to hear of Eamon’s passing. I only knew him as our guide on the most wonderful trip we had through Ireland. He truly made our trip the most memorable experience and we can’t thank him enough.
