Eamonn MAGUIRE

My wife Valerie and I remember Eamonn best from the early 1970s when he was the secretary of the Gormanston & District Angling Club. At that time Eamonn was one of at least four active members of that club living in Derham Park, ie., Brendan Marry, Tom Cullen, & myself. We all, on occasion, used to travel to Lough Sheelin & other lakes to fly fish in the hope of catching a really big trout, but seldom did. Before our marriage in 1975, Val & I sometimes traveled in Eamonn's car to these places & as I recall, he would never hear of taking money towards the fuel bill for the long journey to the lakes & back. Eamonn was a real gentleman and we have great memories of those times now in the past. On one occasion at another lake, he got soaking wet & had to put his vest on his car radiator to dry, but he left it there too long and it got singed. After the initial shock, Eamonn saw the funny side of it, and so did all his many fishing friends there on that day. Valerie & I would like to extend our condolences to Imelda & her family in their sad loss.
