He was always very kind ,encouraging and supportive to myself and all members of staff. May he rest in peace and God comfort you all in the days ahead. I am saddened to hear today October 19th that Eamonn McGuinness died almost a month ago. He was our Local inspector and Roinn Cigire (Divisional) while I was Principal in Scoil Íosagáin and Scoil Chroí Íosa, Ballina. A total gentleman, born teacher, fair and thorough inspector, supportive and common sensed always. What a marvellous contribution he made to education in the Sligo/ Mayo area! I considered him a friend. Condolences to his wife Moya, sons Garrett, Cian, Aengus; to his daughters Niamh and Méabh; to his sister Phil, grandchildren, in laws, colleagues and friends. Condolences to the McGuinness family on the death of your dear husband, father and grandfather.. Eamon was my Cigire early on in my career and I thoroughly enjoyed his visits to my classroom. He was kind, considerate and always so helpful. He enjoyed talking to the children and the children felt comfortable with him. He picked up the chalk and got stuck in especially during a maths lesson. I had the impression he very much enjoyed the classroom and teaching. A most helpful, respectful and inspirational inspector. I had the pleasure of sharing many mornings around the coffee table in Kempten Promenade with Eamonn when he would drop in to say hello. Loved hearing him recount so many stories from his time visiting schools as Cigire, he certainly had a fantastic memory and a great wit in telling stories, not to mention an expert writing hand. One of life’s great gentlemen, Rest in Peace Eamonn.

I am very privileged to have known Eamon: a devoted husband; a caring and loving father; a highly-skilled and compassionate schools'inspector ; a valued and gifted contributor to our education system. He was a gentleman. My sympathies to Moya and to his family.
