The death of Eamonn O’Fearchain represents a very sad loss to Astronomy Ireland and the extended group of his family and friends who all knew and loved him very dearly! I was devastated to hear of his passing after his period of illness that concludes a very long and very fulfilling life!
Thaitin sé go mór liom mo chuid Gaeilge a chleachtadh leis le linn ár seisiún tráthnóna Réalteolaíocht Éireann agus muid ag cur siamsaíochta ar fáil don phobal freisin! Chuir sé imeachtaí réalteolaíocha agus eolaíochta i nGaeilge i gcónaí in iúl go héasca nuair a dhéanfadh sé agallamh fúthu!
Please Requiescat in Pace Eamonn and thank you sincerely for the uplifting times that you shared with all of us! Your legacy will endure long after your passing up into the stars!

Eamonn was a real gentleman. We all had such good times with him, swimming in the Burrow and dinghy club. They were such happy times. Thanks for that, Eamonn. Condolences to his family.
Sincere sympathy to the O’Fearachain family on the death of Eamonn.Fond memories of Eamonn and Rita from their days in Luxembourg and their active participation in the Irish community. I remember Eamonn co- chairing the inaugural meeting of the Irish Club forty years ago. Rita was so kind, and as a young mother in 1984 I really appreciated her visit to the hospital when my daughter was born. Their friendliness and hospitality will not be forgotten.Rest in peace,Eamonn and Rita.
With my husband Bryan (died 2010) I enjoyed many convivial evenings at Eamonn & Rita’s house in Luxembourg during the late 1970s (Bryan worked with Eamonn at the Court of Auditors). Provided we (literally) sang for our supper - and we did! - we 2 Brits were embraced as honorary Irish and always made welcome. Happy memories… Warmest wishes and sincere condolences to all the family.

Eamonn introduced us all to the beauty and expanse of the universe by showing us the stars and planets within view from Offington. Always a pleasure to meet and converse with on such interesting things, a true kind and lovely person who will be missed. Sincere condolences to all the O'Fearchain family and his many friends. Andy

Dear O’Fearchain family,
it has been many years since I was at school with Paul abroad. Nonetheless I would hear Eamonn’s name mentioned from time to time, always in the context of his kindness and consideration towards others. I remember him as a quiet, kind man, who always had a smile on his face.
The words spoken as you said goodbye today were beautiful, and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (Spring) was a lovely farewell to Eamonn.
You had adorable parents (grandparents...) and as was clear from today’s service, you have wonderful memories.
Stay strong, stay together. Condolences to you all, and may you rest in peace Eamonn.

My deepest sympathy to Eamonn's family on his passing. I knew Eamonn and Rita well in Luxembourg and afterwards, back in Dublin, worked closely with him for many years on the committee of the AIACE (Association of Former Officials of the EU).
To Anne, Ciara, Fiona, and all the family,
Our deepest condolences to you at this very sad time.
Pop will be remembered with great affection as a kind, gentle soul who truly embraced life. A great man for diving into the sea in the middle of winter or hosting one of his “star-becues” . May he rest peacefully amongst the stars.

Eamonn was an inspiration and a gentleman. So curious about the world and the universe, he modelled enthusiasm for science, space and technology, as well as the benefits of ice cold daily sea swimming. A lovely and special uncle. Condolences to Anne, Paul, Joe and their families.
So sad to hear the news of Eamonn's passing. An absolute gent and it was an honour to ever be in his company, hear his stories and indulge in his knowledge and joy for life.
Rest well Eamonn

On behalf of all the staff at KLEAR Adult Education Centre, I wish to extend our sympathies on the passing of your father. May he rest in peace.
Ag an am cráite seo cuirimid ár gcomhbhrón ó chroí lena chlann, a chairde agus a chomhghleacaithe. Beidh a oidhreacht beo ionainn go léir. Solas na bhFlaitheas go bhfeice sé. Ar dheis Dé go mbeidh a anam uasal dílis Gaelach.
Pádraig Mac Éil, thar cionn Chiorcal Comhrá Dhomhnach Míde

I was so sad to hear that Eamonn has left us.
Those years in Luxembourg seem so long ago, when we were a small group of "Irlandais"; and so much has changed in the meantime, but Eamon's good-natured smile remains in my memory.
May he rest in peace.
