Like many, Eddy first interviewed me when i applied for a job in Texaco in 1971
Always a pleasure to deal with throught all my time there, a thoughtful and principled man.

He was the first man to interview me when I went for my first ever real job in Texaco in O'Connell Street way back in 1970. He was a lovely courteous man who made feel at ease. He passed me on to his boss John Preston for the next stage interview. He must have believed that I was worth taking a chance on and I will never forget him for that.
May his gentle soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

I was very sorry to hear about the death of Ed. I have very good memories of Ed, as he gave me my first ever summer job in Texaco, where he looked after me and showed me the ropes, on how to mix with people in a working environment.It was a great experience.

It’s a sad day for the Nugent family and the end of an era at the family home where I am reminded of Mr and Mrs Nugent and their immense generosity.Forty three years ago as student nurses in St Vincent’s Hospital and “Up from the country”we were fortunate to have Ann as a friend and the Nugents became a second family to us.Ed was often in stitches listening to our antics and how we tried to out wit and escape the wrath of some very cranky ward sisters charged with turning us into nurses, but the Nugents took us under their wing taking us out on boats on the Shannon down in Longford, advising us on buying our first car , they cooked breakfast for us after night duty, invited us for Christmas dinner if we couldn’t get home. I hold such treasured memories of The Nugent family, and will be forever grateful

So sorry to hear of Eddie's death. My Dad and he were great pals in the Texaco days and we used to love hearing the stories from the great crew that worked together for so many years. They all used to refer to each other by their initials. No doubt he got a great reception at the pearly gates from ACH, CPM, MAC and many others.
