Eddie was unique, a one-off and everyone loved him for it. His quick come backs and razor sharp wit meant you always had to be on your game chatting to him. He loved nothing more than a good discussion while he was cutting your hair and of course never forgot to ask about everyone associated with you.

He was always a man with solutions; it didn't matter what the subject was, he could find a way to make you smile and deal with it. He and dad (Patsy) were big buddies and down the years had many adventures ...but that's another story!

Eddie's sad passing has left a gap in the Twin Towns, one that will never be filled. The memories recalled over the last few days and turnout at the funeral were testament to the high regard in which he was held.

As Fr Kieran said at the Requiem Mass today, Eddie was, "a legend in his own lifetime". He paid tribute to his 53 years service to the community from his Navenny Street base and reminded us all of how we were well entertained by his stories and "how he preached some sermons over the years".
