I was saddened to learn of Eddie’s passing. He was an engaging teacher who brought a broad, forward-thinking perspective to the faculty.

I came to know him well at Lyons Estate in 1984. Late in a week, I happened to mention a statistical problem I had. To my surprise, Eddie returned the following Monday with a clear written approach to resolving the problem. He had spent part of his weekend working on it, entirely of his own volition. This kindness left a lasting impression on me. His legacy will endure in the memories of those students who were fortunate to have known him well.
So sorry for your loss. Thinking of you all and remembering Ed's jokes and warm welcome in your home. Keeping you all in my prayers.
Sincere sympathies to May family and extended family on sad passing of Eddie.
Had the pleasure of meeting you both in
Ardeen Thurles in August 2018. may his gentle soul rest in peace
Deepest sympathy to May, Aideen and Siobhan, and all the Walsh family, on the death of Eddie.
He was a lovely man, and a great friend and colleague of my Da, George Keane, and they stayed friends right up to my fathers death nearly 2 years ago, chatting occasionally on the phone, and reminiscing about Lyons estate.
May he rest in peace.
Our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to May,Aideen and Siobhàn on the sad occasion of the passing of your beloved Eddie...R.I.P..Eddie was a wonderful support to me and indeed many other Wexford students struggling to find their feet in the challenging environment of U.C.D. in the 1960's..We managed to survive due to the extra tuition received from Eddie..A magnificent and generous
human being..
"And still we gazed and still the wonder grew,
That one small head could carry all he knew..
HE WAS AN INSPIRATION TO US DURING THOSE DIFFICULT TIMES..
Deepest sympathy to the Walsh Family on the recent passing of Eddie. RIP.
First of all our sympathies to May and all the Walsh
family Eddie was a wonderful person and it was a pleasure

Deepest sympathy to all the Walsh family on the sad passing of Eddie. May he rest in peace.
Deepest sympathies to May,Aideen,Siobhan and the extended Walsh family on the sad passing of your beloved Eddie. He was peerless as a gifted researcher and was an outstanding lecturer, always well prepared, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He simplified difficult concepts and could have written the manual on Statistics for Ags made Simple.!
He always showed great compassion, patience, generosity and empathy in supporting any struggling students.
He used his indomitable sense of humour to connect with people and wore his status with humility and ease.
His mind always sparkled with wonder at everything.
He touched the lives of many and will not be forgotten, especially by those of us who benefited as postgraduates from his generous, magnanimous guidance in Taylors (Lyons Estate).
He epitomised grace and grit in both his sporting life and in his handling of trauma and tragedy in his personal life.
To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die
Until we see his smiling ,welcoming face again, may he rest in peace in the land where there is no separation.
"Oh, you are not lying in the wet clay,
For it is a harvest evening now
and we are piling up the ricks against the moonlight
And you smile up at us--eternally"
Deepest sympathy to Dick and the extended Walsh family.
May Eddie rest in peace.
