I first came across Eddie (we had to call him Mr. Bergin!) when I joined Coyle Hamilton's in 1980. In my early 20's, he was quite enigmatic - dapper, a boyish grin and always a twinkle in his eye. I had many interactions with EJB (his initialised "call sign") and he was a tough taskmaster - but, I learned a lot from him in those 2 years both personally and professionally. Several years later our paths crossed once again - in Sedgewick Dineen this time. He was no longer Mr. Bergin - now he was a more informal Eddie. My interactions with him were much more frequent and in-depth and Eddie continuously challenged me to expand through new clients he passed on to me. I left the industry in 1987 but continued to bump into Eddie many times, especially lunchtime on Grafton Street. Eddie is one of the very few to have left an iinfluencing mark on me to this day. Thank you Eddie and may you rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to the Bergin family on Eddie’s passing. I worked at Sedgwick and later Marsh. Eddie was always a gentleman of great integrity. May he rest in peace.
I was so sorry to hear of Eddie’s passing he was my Dad’s oldest friend ( Max ONeill). I was looking at photos the other day of their trip to Puru after I heard of your Dads passing. They were great pals. My deepest sympathies to you all from Shane and Derek and myself and Hugh thank you for making that holiday to Puru so special for Max.
My condolences to all the Bergin family with the passing of Edmund. On my many trips to his household, growing up, there was always a great welcome from Edmond. We had rugby in common and would talk about the internationals. Mass will be said at St. Augustine’s RC church, High Wycombe.

Hugh, Seán, Patricia and Brian, I have so so many fond memories of Eddie, from the golf course to the squash court, bare foot running before it was trendy and cycling topless more miles than most of us would drive back then.
May he rest in peace.
I hope he’s already challenged Wally to 18 holes or best of 3 on the court.

Hello to Sean, Dawn and all berieved,
Edmund always struck me as a true gentleman. With great love for his kids and real affection for the “small ones”. We may think a death is expected and there is still a gap that only Edmond filled.
Condolences from Uwe, Miriam and all the kids.
