Very fond memories of Edward in "Pompey's Shop Ballineen as a young boy and involved with my father in the infamous St Mary's Band. I had the pleasure of meeting Edward at this years St Patrick's Day parade where he kindly stood in for a photo. Deepest condolences to Auntie Bina, and cousins Liz, Noreen and Anthony and your families on the loss of Edward. We have many fond childhood memories of visits to Carrigmore, with its magical lake, island and woodlands during the ‘60s and ‘70s, and your return visits to Trim, which I know were particularly looked forward to by Mum and Dad − Michael and Brigid Murphy. Edward was a permanent source of goodwill, always concerned for the well-being of others, and never far from a song or story at the least prompt. It was a great blessing that he was with you in relatively good health for so long. As Anthony said in his eulogy: “a long life lived fully, right to the very end” − a rare and cherished gift in that fact, and in the outstanding and gentle man that he was. May he rest in peace, and may the richness of his life be your consolation on his departure.

We were devastated to hear of dear Edward's unexpected passing. He was a much-loved, respected and dedicated member of our choir for many decades and in recent times joined us to sing at Sunday Masses, much to our great delight. We will miss his glorious voice and his happy and wonderfully gracious disposition.
