A modest and tallented gentleman with a fine mind, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him over a very full lifetime.

We were very sorry to hear of Eddie's sudden death. As Anne Coffey's cousin we have met and enjoyed Eddie's company
on many occasions over the past 16 years. His funeral Mass was very poignant and meaningful. His family on all sides did him proud and our deepest sympathy to them. We pray that Eddie may now Rest in Peace.

A lifetime ago …..Eddie was a wonderful mentor and friend when I was a young lad in the rarified Brussels atmosphere of 1973. His great sense of humour and deep intellect endeared him as a colleague to all. While it is many years since last we met, I have never forgotten him and now that he has left us I can only say may he rest in peace. My sincere condolences to all of his family.

I worked with Eddie in Brussels during the first Irish Presidency of the ( then) EEC in 1975 & had many official & social meetings with him then & in subsequent years . He was a fantastic colleague,with a wealth of knowledge & was always very entertaining & I recall , with great fondness , social events with Eddie & May . It was a terrible shock to learn of Eddie's sudden and untimely passing. Eddie was a true gentleman in every respect and was welcomed into the Coffey family seamlessly. He was a perfect companion to Anne and vice versa. Over the past sixteen years Eddie and Anne shared many great times together which was enhanced by their many shared interests. Eddie will be greatly missed by his family, his extended family and all who knew him.

It was with much shock and sadness that we learnt of your Dad's sudden passing. Eddie was a good and trusted neighbour for 57 years. Not just a neighbour but also a dear friend. He will be so missed.
