He had a wealth of knowledge about aircraft restoration and was always generous with his time and advice and contributed so much to aviation in Ireland.

I have great memories of my visits to Mountrice watching the restoration of the Piper Cub EI BIO, flying with Eddie, my association with his many aviation friends and especially my flight with him to Inis Oirr in June 1989.

We all enjoyed the time with all of you over the years on the farm, and observing the amazing things that Eddie accomplished, like building his own planes - which I had the pleasure of flying with him before coming to Australia. He definitely lived life to the fullest!

Dear Aunty Pat, Dan, Mary, Eamon & all your families. We were so sad to hear of Uncle Eddie’s passing. So many wonderful memories from my childhood summers and weekends on the farm to getting to fly in the plane with Eddie. A farmer come pilot. A wonderful man, my godfather. As a child, he was like a gentle giant to me. We feel so grateful to have spent time with him in June this year and also last year when we were back home. Eddie certainly lived life to the fullest right till the end. Love and hugs to you all at this difficult time. Rest peacefully Uncle Eddie 🙏❤️

I am so sorry to hear about Eddie’s passing. It was so special to see him and Pat again in September — he was just as warm and wise as I remembered. Eddie was an incredible man, and I feel so fortunate to have seen him after so many years.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are from visiting the farm. Pat and Eddie always made me feel welcome. I’ll always cherish those memories, with your family.

We are the current custodians of Eddie’s beloved Cub and with it we also gained his help and knowledge. Eddie was always generous with his time and advice to fellow aviators and offered the opportunity to so many to take to the skies. When the Cub was restored we found his name alongside those of his fellow ‘Bogmen Aviators’ under the floor where it still lies, ensuring his legacy will live on.
