I would like to express how highly regarded Mrs Burke was to me. She was an extension to my own family and has been there for me and welcomed me into her home since my birth and never a cross word had between us.

Mrs Burke was an inspiration to me and kept the memories of my own mum alive.

I would often call around to Mrs Burke and have a cup of tea and chat for an hour or more, even after John had moved out. She always kept me grounded as a young man and I will truly miss her.

My condolences to John and Eileen who have always been there for her.

I will always remember this lovely lady who despite having left Ireland many decades ago retained her strong Kerry accent and a love of the county of Kerry aptly named “The Kingdom”. Eileen often spoke lovingly of her beloved dad and siblings. She regularly became animated on speaking of little Sophie with whom she spent quality time in her home. She would regale me with accounts of Sophie’s progress at school, helping in the home; always a joy to listen to.

To John, Kasia, dear Sophie and Olivia; Eileen and Peter and Burke/McKenna families I extend my deepest condolences. May Eileen rest in eternal peace enveloped in love. I bet the kettle’s on in Heaven as they gather around for a chat with Eileen seated comfortably in the middle !
