Eileen Cleaning Windows
Was that your voice I heard this morn
Singing songs so surely –
Rolling over fields all green;
Ringing notes so purely?
I remember windows bright;
They couldn’t have been cleaner.
You brought the fields to life it seemed –
They couldn’t have been greener.
You filled my soul with Irish songs;
A soft lilt fed the land
With hope and happiness it seemed –
Forever you’re my friend.
Dear Eileen, with cloth in hand,
You’ll wash– away all sorrow –
And all sadness that we feel today
Will be gone tomorrow.
