Reading all of these beautiful memories from people shows what a wonderful pillar of the community Eileen was as well as an amazing mother grandmother and daughter. Gone much too soon. All my thoughts and love to Colm and family, will see you soon.

To the family and loved ones of Eileen Dunbar, I am so sorry for your loss. "Ms. Dunbar" was a true lady and it was her inspiring teaching that led me to become a history teacher myself. I will forever be grateful for her influence. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am really saddened to hear of Eileen’s passing. We were at school and college together and later met at history conferences. Eileen’s bright friendly smile lit up our every meeting. Her gracious nature and beautiful spirit will be sadly missed. My sincere condolences to all her family and friends.

Thinking of you all at this very sad time. Eileen was a fabulous colleague, a mentor and a friend. I loved working along side her when we taught Leaving Cert History together. She always had so much time for me and was so incredibly wise. She was funny, stylish and so kind. I looked up to her so much. She very much took me under her wing when I started working at St Mary’s and what a privilege that was. Eileen will be hugely missed.

Sincerest condolences to PJ & all of Eileen's family and friends. Eileen was my English Department colleague at St. Mary’s. She showed great kindness to me, a young teacher in my first 'proper job'. She was always encouraging and supportive. She led by example and will forever be a reminder to me of the high standard to which we should aspire. Much has been written about her affectionate title of Lady, which was certainly accurate & apt. But what I will most fondly remember is the mischief & fun that she also so generously shared with her colleagues & friends. Eileen was so much fun to be around. It is not every 'Lady' who could so gracefully carry that title, along with such a witty sense of divilment. She was one of a kind. May she rest in peace.

Sincere condolences on the passing of Eileen. Eileen - which feels strange to say even now, as I knew her as Ms Dunbar - my history teacher and debating tutor. Eileen was an inspirational teacher in a quiet, unassuming way. She led by example, and as they say, what you remember when you look back upon your education is how you were treated by a teacher rather than what you were taught. This is so true of Eileen. She ignited within me my love of debating and my desire to be the teacher and lady she was. I can’t but think of Eileen with the utmost respect and fondness. May she rest in peace.

Eileen was simply one of the best: a splendid teacher, a wonderful colleague, a natural leader, a loving partner and a devoted parent. She was also a loyal and trusted friend.

I had Mrs. Dunbar as my history teacher for leaving cert and we enjoyed playing "Devils Advocate" for the sake of debates.
I'm not a teacher but if I was one Id aspire to her teachings and temperament. A lady is right.
I had the fortunate experience, when working in Saint Marys Art and Science JC classes, to chat with her in the staff room and she was just the same. A lady through and through and that's inspiring in itself.

I was heartbroken to hear of Ms Dunbar’s passing. She was an incredible teacher, a lady who believed in her students and helped us to strive to be our very best. She was the type of teacher that you never wanted to let down and so you always put in your best effort in her class. Ms Dunbar has influenced so much of my own practice as a teacher and I often draw inspiration from her empathetic, thorough and fun approach to education. May she rest in peace.

I was lucky enough to call Eileen my history teacher, colleague and friend. She was inspirational, passionate about history and eager to instill this passion in students and bring history to life. She was so kindhearted, family- centred, wise, stylish in every sense of the word, an interested listener, generous with time and advice, always great company. She taught us all about attention to detail and the importance of doing the thing right. She had a great sense of fun and loved any opportunity to go on an outing or meet up. Precious memories now. Sincere condolences to PJ, Colm, Lana, Siofra, Brian and her cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Jack, Josh, Flora, Alice and Eddie at this heartbreaking time. I’m deeply saddened to hear of Ms. Eileen Dunbar’s passing. She taught me History and English through out my years in St. Mary’s College. Lady Dunbar, as she was affectionately known, was a truly remarkable educator. As a teacher now myself, I take inspiration from her methodologies and how she brought her subjects to life in the classroom. Myself and my friends have very fond memories of a History trip she took us on to Derry when we were in 6th year and regularly talk about it.
