Sincere condolences to the Flannery family on the sad passing of Eileen. Eileen was a true lady and her family had a long-standing connection with St. Declan’s N.S., Ashbourne. We greatly appreciated Eileen’s attendance at our 6th Class graduation ceremony in June each year at which she presented the Pupil of the Year award in memory of her late son, Joseph. We also fondly remember her recording a lovely video message for our 6th Class children who graduated during the COVID-19 restrictions when we couldn’t meet in person. She was a proud Sligo woman and as a fellow Sligo man, I enjoyed the chat with her each time we met. On behalf of the staff, Board of Management and school community of St. Declan’s N.S., I would like to extend our sincere sympathies to all who mourn Eileen’s passing. May she rest in peace. Sincere condolences to Eileen’s family and friends. I worked with Eileen 20 years ago in Mount Street. My memories are of a very kind decent person who liked a bit of fun and devilment. She kept in touch with a text message every year or so with maybe a prayer or a joke!
