How lucky I was to have those first few words with her. She was full of life, positivity radiated from her and with her words of encouragement, she immediately set me at ease. I soon realised this was how Eileen treated all who had the pleasure of crossing her path, throughout the schoolday. She will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace.

I had the absolute pleasure of being one of Mrs. Loughnane’s students for 6 years. I always said if I didn’t get her as my leaving cert teacher I wouldn’t do the subject! She was such a guiding light for me all the way through my time in SCR. I will never forget getting a big hug from her a few months ago. She was one of a kind. RIP.

My friends and I still talk about her 25 years later and reference the little tips she taught us in my 5 years as her student. My Condolence to Gerry, Liam, Jamie and MaryRose on the passing of your wonderful mother Eileen. I was very fortunate to have your mam as my teacher for 6 years, for Junior Cert, TY and my Leaving Certificate. Your mam had fantastic teaching methodologies which made my learning enjoyable however, you would not show up for class on test day without studying hard as she made sure your test was corrected infront of everyone at the end of class! Eileen was a very withy woman, she always loved a good laugh in class telling her stories about her 3 children and her loving husband Gerry who she always spoke highly of, but when it came to the theory of Home Ecc she ment business! Refill pads, rulers and highlighers were very important in her classes!
Although Eileen was our teacher, she also was like a mother figure at times to all her students. She always gave good advise as she wanted the best for all her little "Babies" and "Munchkins".

Thinking of Gerry, Jamie, Liam, Mary Rose and Eileens mother during this very difficilt and heartbreaking time.

She was such a beautiful person, so kind, warm, and fun. I still think about her when I’m cooking, and her comments, “Baby! Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Eileen. There's not much I can say or comfort I can offer at this time except that Eileen was a lady and great colleague. With her years of experience, she had a great understanding of where the SCR was at any given time and how to give things a nudge when we needed a hand. What I respect(ed) most about her was that she always put the positive learning outcomes of her students first. Even when some students, at the time, might not have been especially happy with her close attention, she always got the best out of 'her girls' in the end, and they loved her for it. Eileen's loss will be keenly felt by us all, but her example will be remembered and carried forward into the future. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anim.
