A brilliant teacher, who somehow managed to coordinate a large group of primary school kids, most with no music experience, into a cohesive unit playing various instruments. Other teachers opted for everyone to just play the recorder. She had time for every student. I feel lucky to have had her as a teacher. Rest in peace, Mrs. McCollum.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of such a remarkable and intelligent lady. Her loss is felt by all of us who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a source of inspiration to many, including myself.
While we mourn her departure from this world, let us also celebrate the incredible life she lived and the lasting impact she had on those fortunate enough to cross her path.

My deepest sympathy to Tania, Maria and all Eileen's family. Eileen was a really important part of my life for the 12 years she taught me, from when I first started learning the piano aged 9 until I finished my degree in music in 2017. I also really enjoyed occasionally visiting and chatting with her after this; she was always so interested in asking me about my job and my music. There is so much I learned from her that I still use both within and outside music. Something she taught me that I use frequently at work is how to stand and speak in front of an audience; I get a lot of compliments on my presentation skills! I will really miss her and I know there are so many other people in Crosshaven who will, too.

Sincere condolences to Eileen’s family on her passing. She was a wonderful teacher, one of a kind. So many happy memories particularly of her house on Saturday mornings when Emma Jane and Lisa Ann had their music lessons George and I were added to the performances when collecting the girls. We always ended up laughing. We never lost touch over the years which says so much about the lovely Eileen. May she rest in peace.

Eileen growing up in Kinsale and was in awe at her skill and dedication to playing the piano. She practised frequently and passed all her musical examinations with ease. She is the last member of a respected and well liked Kinsale Family.

Eileen was the best teacher I ever had. She had a tremendous impact on my life. She taught me so much more than music and speech and drama. I will remember her for her encouragement, for her unwavering belief we could do better. I will remember how much and how often we found ourselves in helpless giggles during our Friday afternoon lessons, with Eileen laughing the hardest. I will remember how she treated her students as equals, how she valued our thoughts and opinions. I will remember all the culture she brought to my life : not just music, but art and theatre and literature of all kinds. I will remember the absolute joy of singing in her lovely home, beside her beautiful piano. I think of her every night when I sing lullabies to my children, songs I learned with her. I truly hope she knew how very highly I thought of her, and how grateful I am to her for everything. My sincerest condolences to Tania, Maria and Paddi, and all her family and friends, for your great loss.
