My heartfelt condolences to you Mary, Siobhán, Sinéad, Gráinne and Aoife. Eileen was truly one of a kind. What I’ll remember most is her warmth and her wit. She was deeply intelligent, kind, funny, caring and extremely loyal. She was a great friend to my late mother Florence and had a special place in the hearts of all my family. Eileen was the most wonderful, funny, artistic, sassy and loving woman. I loved listening to her and Granmum gossip and laugh together. We had some brilliant outings and lunches together over the years. Eileen hosting her own art exhibition at home is one of my fondest memories of her in her element, chatting about art as she loved to do. To all Eileen’s family our deepest sympathy on the loss of the beloved Eileen. As has been written Eileen came from a family who were part of the fabric of Skibbereen and surroundings. Her love for the area never deserted her and it was always a joy to meet her on her visits. Her mother Nan spent many an evening in the company of my grandmother Tessie O Mahony and friends in the kitchen behind the bar discussing the days events in the town. That connection survived the years. She was a glamorous and gentle woman among other attributes whose presence always uplifted any occasion. Rest in Peace Eileen you gave your all.
