Eithne and I worked together first in Coolock library. She was a generous colleague, thoughtful and kind, forthright and of powerful integrity. When enthused her bright eyes blazed with fun and energy. Fly high, Eithne. Soar free! Sincere condolences to her family and other friends.
To Diarmuid, Úna, Marian and especially Deirdre, who was my best buddy in school all those years ago and who I unfortunately lost contact with over the years. So sad to have learnt of Eithna’s passing and I have fond memories of her on Mannix Hill talking about her adventures in the Kibbutz in Israel in the late 60’s or early 70’s. She was one spirited lady and someone to look up to as a young teenager. Condolences to Helena. From the Kane family, Paul, Desmond and Susan RIP
I have only belatedly heard of Eithne's death and I am so very sorry to hear of her passing. She was one of our "first friends" from Iona School days and and subsequently in Glasnevin. Eithne was always "top of the Class" - Aristotle - one of our teachers nicknamed her! I have great memories of our camogie days and especially of our unforgettable trip with Miss Carroll to Stradford-on-Avon and London. No bother to Eithne to navigate the undergound system at such a young age.
It was wonderful to reconnect with her at our class reunion in 2018.
My sincere sympathy to all her family.
RIP Eithne.

Shocked and saddened to learn of Eithne’s death. Far too young with so many books left to read and places to go!

Shocked to hear of Eithne's untimely death. One of the brainy boxes who came to HFC Glasnevin from Iona primary school & who helped & kept us enthralled when organising the 50th reunion of the leaving class of 1968. Condolences to her beloved daughter & family on their sad loss.. May she rest in peace.
So sorry to hear of Eithne's untimely death. I only met her once but she was ever so wise. Her passing must be very difficult to accept as she was much too young. Hopefully her Heaven is full of excellent reads. Thinking of you all in the days ahead.
So very sorry to hear of the death of Eithne and so sorry not to be able to join with her family today in giving her a good send off. I was a colleague of hers for many years in the library service. As many have said, family was so important to her. My sympathies to all of you. May she rest in peace.
Just back after a break and was shocked to hear the news. I originally knew Eithne from working with her years ago, but in her post-retirement life she was one of our most knowledgeable borrowers in Finglas library. I'll miss talking books with her. Condolences to her family and many friends at this sad time.

My deepest sympathies to Eithne’s family. I first worked with Eithne for a short time in 1983 and much later in Reader Services until her retirement. She had such a wide range of talents, interests, information and knowledge including travel and sport. I attended two memorable Autumn rugby internationals with her in 2009 and remember her tolerance of my support for Munster not Lenster ! I last met and chatted with her at Tom’s retirement event in December 2019; news of her passing comes as a complete surprise. May she rest in peace.
Our deepest sympathy to Eithne's family and friends on her sad loss. I worked with Eithne in a no. of libraries over the years and she was a font of knowledge, so down to earth and great fun. Like Doris I remember the arrivals on a Honda 50 if memory serves & dropped her home after Tom's "do". You always think you'll have time to catch up again.
May she rest in peace.

I worked for many years with Eithne in Reader's Services in Cabra and she was a supportive and loyal colleague. She gave generously of her time and knowledge to others. She spoke regularly and lovingly of her family particularly her nieces and nephews and we knew what they excelled at, what sports they loved, their hobbies and most important of all what they were reading. I hope it is a source of comfort to you today to know how much she loved you all. Rest in peace Eithne.

So sorry and shocked to learn that Eithne has left us - she was a life-force. Ray worked with her in TCD and I worked with her in DCPL - she was unfailingly cheerful, positive and funny. We used to bump into her at the RDS at Leinster matches and she was so knowledgeable about rugby and always correct in her predictions. She will be sorely missed.
Eithne will be terribly missed by myself and all the staff from Focus Hair Design, we loved hearing her stories of travel and keeping us updated on all her family, being Eithne’s hairdresser for over 40 years her loyalty and friendship will truly be missed.

Deepest sympathy to the family on the passing of Eithne, a wonderful colleague of mine for many years in Dublin City Libraries.
Eithne was a colleague in Dublin City Libraries and what I remember most was her sunny smile. We had many animated conversations about rugby down through the years. My sincere sympathy to all the family.
I worked with Eithne, and following her retirement we had several long lunches over the years. We discussed all manner of things and Eithne was never more animated than when talking about her family, the centre of her universe and her greatest source of joy. I send you all sincere condolences on this very sad news.
Eithne said that her ambition to be a librarian started at a very young age - she really embraced this her dream job; "retired public librarian'' is so lovely, apt and perfect here.
So walk on air against your better judgement
Establishing yourself somewhere in between
Those solid batches mixed with grey cement
And a tune called The Gravel Walks that conjures green.

I am deeply shocked and very sorry to hear of the death of my ex colleague, Eithne. She was a wonderful person to work with, so diligent, hard working, knowledgable and highly intelligent. I'll never forget the great day we had when she very kindly got tickets for us, her work mates, to see Leinster beat Munster in Croke Park in 2009. Sincere condolences to all her family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Eithne, my eldest sister, was also a mother. She cared very much for all her siblings and her daughter Helena. She particularly cared for our mother and she was there for her every day until she passed away in 2012. When I think of my sister I will remember the things she loved...Family, Music, especially opera. Sport, most notably rugby and cricket, and books...lots and lots of books. She was well read and informed. The 1st in our family to achieve a degree, the 1st to travel far abroad. Something she continued to do throughout her life. And a strong woman with a rod of iron up her back. She never forgot a birthday or Christmas particularly for my children. Presents were invariably books, no surprise, but thoughtful ones. All read cover to cover. I will miss my eldest sister a great deal. She was the leader, the head of the family and I am heartbroken she is gone.
My thoughts are with my other 3 sisters, Marian, Deirdre and Úna.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Claire and all of Eithne's family. My deepest condolences for your sad loss.
Deepest condolences to Eithne's family. She was definitely a one-off.. I have great memories of our trips to Paris, Berlin and other places, and the many concerts we attended together. She forgave my lack of interest in sport and I enjoyed her love of it. She was a friend when I needed one, and she championed the apostrophe. May she rest in peace.
