My condolences to Eva, William and George on the passing of your beloved mother Eithne. I remember Eithne at Kelly family gatherings and in my home on social occasions as feisty, engaging, and a wonderful conversationalist who kept us on our toes. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

We were very sad to hear of Eithne’s death and wish to send you our sympathy. She was an old friend going back many years. She will be missed by many in Clontarf where she had a wide circle of friends.

I am so very sorry to hear of Eithne’s death. We were very good friends many years ago - we worked together in the HSE and stayed friends for many many years. Eithne was alway a great person in a discussion - brought her own views to things. She was good fun, very gentle and very good company, and I would think that she bore her illness very stoically. May here gentle soul Rest in Peace.

To George and all the Doyle family I send my sincere condolences on Eithne's passing. She was a very dear friend and we had some great times as we shared a love of books, clothes, food and the occasional glass of wine. Eithne lived life with passion, compassion, good humour and style. She was an elegant lady with an abundance of creative talent. A founding member of our reading group which still thrives today thanks to the solid building blocks laid by Eithne and her positive input over many years. The chatty letters originally handwritten and then typed as age intruded.
Your inimitable style and flair for accessories.
Afternoon tea at The Shelbourne with 3 children under 6.
Running your finger over the tops of frames to check for dust in my home! Who will ever do that again?
The satin slip you gave me as a 10th birthday present.
Wynn's Hotel as your pre bus rendezvous.
The name you called me that no- one else used.
Your raised hand in greeting across a crowded room.
Sleep well Eithne. We will remember you.

Our sincere sympathy to Eva, William and George and to all who were close to Eithne. She will not be forgotten by anyone who was lucky enough to spend time with her. She was a driving force in our Book Club and her loyalty to the group was unwavering.
July 4th will always be special and I will mark the day with a ‘Happy Birthday Eithne ‘song.
