To Bertie, Ivan , Alan , Wesley , and families we were so sorry to hear of your dear mum’s passing.
Eleanor was a cherished cousin and great friend to Jean .
We always enjoyed being in her company during our childhood in Cork. She was so kind, cheerful ,and interested in each of us , and we remember her lovely warm smile with great affection.
Sorry we couldn’t make it to her funeral. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

I first met Mr and Mrs. Bateman about 30 years ago when I was a fresh lawyer finding my feet. The Batemans were big clients and I was eager to impress.
They immediately both sussed me out and put me as my ease.
They were unassuming but very astute and they exuded respectability and decency.
JVC Bateman passed away too soon however I did meet Mrs. Bateman and the boys on a few occasions over the years.
It is clear from these condolences that the Bateman family and in particular Mrs. Bateman are held in very high esteem by their community their friends and their neighbors .
It is clear that the courtesy she gave me was extended to all and I am sure that there are numerous untold stories of charity and consideration by the Bateman family that have never been ventilated and which were offered simply because it was the right and decent to do.

Mrs. Bateman‘s passing is a great loss for the boys,her extended family and her community however I would hope that they will take some comfort from the avalanche of Goodwill towards them since the sad news came through.

Looking in from the outside it always seemed to me that both Mr and Mrs Bateman lived their lives in a good and Christian fashion a trait the boys have continued and which the rest of us can only aspire to.
May she rest in peace

My thoughts and prayers are with Bertie, Alan, Ivan, Wesley and your respective families on your Mam’s death. Please accept my apology for missing the funeral as it was over when I heard. I fondly remember your Mam of whom I am sure you have lasting memories.

To Bertie, Ivan, Alan and Wesley, my two daughters, Zoe and Katie, were lucky enough to grow up visiting your family farm, (still happening 24yrs later). Having walked the fields with Bertie we would come back to our car and there would be some bread to feed the hens with, some eggs to take home and a packet of Mighty Munch and a juice for the kids, just placed on the car. We wouldn't always meet your Mom but this gesture was so appreciated by us all and it made our visits so special. She was a lovely, kind and gentle person and I send our sincere condolences to you all at this sad time. May she rest in peace.
