RIP Aunty Betty

The Queen of our family, our guest of honour at our wedding and our inspiration. What amazing memories we all have of our time with you, whether it be here in England or back 'home' in Cork, every time in your company was heartwarming and full of love.

You will be deeply missed but always in our thoughts and prayers.
We'll be raising a drink (or 3) at the weekend in your name.

All our love

RIP Aunty Betty,

Although I had only seen you a couple of times, the fond memories will always have a special place in my heart. I first met you as a very small boy when you came to Dagenham and I was in absolute awe of this lady that was my Grandad’s sister! Sadly, I didn’t know him too well so to be in your presence felt surreal as you were the closest person to a man that I had heard so much about.

My mum always had the utmost admiration and respect for you and when I went to Cork for the first time 2 years ago, spent time in the family home and heard stories about you and my grandad growing up in Ireland, I completely appreciated why. I left your house that day feeling honoured, warm and accepted- and not forgetting with a rather noticeable wet patch on my face from your “generous” Holy Water donation on my departure.

To see you for the last time at my sister’s wedding this year added to the wonder of this unforgettable day. I know you will be looking over me during my time overseas and that will be a huge comfort for when I feel homesick.

There is a Catholic mass in your name on Sunday in the city of Shanghai and I will be raising a drink (for you, of course) after.

All my love,

Liam.
To the O'Connell family, you had one of the most beautiful mother, and father.
Sincerely
Mary and Theresa
Rest in Peace Auntie Betty.
From your loving family in England xx
Fred The thoughts and prayers of Pauline and I are with you and all your family at this sad time, George
