She was so much part of The Gem and buying a newspaper always took a long time as we were filled in on all the local news and chat. Her memory of people and happenings in the past was extraordinary and always entertaining! May she Rest in Peace now.

Betty was a true legend and our sincere condolences to all the O'Donnell clan. My youngest childhood memory was sitting at the bottom of the stairs in Chanterlands while Betty and my ma and da Michael and Moya sang showtunes when all the kids were "asleep". Every time my kids were home with us from San Fran they immediately wanted to go see the GOAT Betty and say hi. Betty you were an amazing neighbor, lifelong family friend to the Walls and will be forever missed. You deserve your Rest In Peace for eternity, and please sing a bar of South of the Border with that fella Michael up there in heaven.

Betty's passing marks the end of an era. Betty was such a sparkling presence in the Gem. I recall going to wonderful children's parties over the shop many moons ago. Betty greeted us all with her customery cheery personality.
She was central to the Chanterlands neighbourhood over many years where she will be greatly missed.
