Deepest sympathies to all of Elizabeth's family. She was a vibrant, formidable and fun colleague always a smile who will be sorely missed. I remember a snow event and as I recall Liz drove home after the night, and next day she mentioned the car losing grip on the road with a bit of a slide into a tree or a lamppost. While it would be a scary event for most of us Liz just shrugged it off, only mentioning it because I asked about getting home!

So desperately sad and sorry to learn of Liz's passing, it is just shocking and so very wrong.

I worked with Liz for a brief time at Met Éireann, a few years ago. Because of Covid we only met in person a number of times, but I just know that if circumstances had been different, we would have become good friends. I was so happy to learn Liz was rising through the ranks at Met Éireann, as her leadership, strength and personality was just perfect.

To Liz's family, I can't believe her beautiful soul has been taken from you, I am so sorry. To Met Éireann colleagues, I am so utterly heartbroken for you all, I know how huge the loss of Liz is. You are all in my thoughts x

I started working with Liz only three years ago, and she quickly went from colleague to close colleague to good friend. She brightened my day as she did with everyone else's, and anything we say about her will never be enough.
I feel so honoured to have had her in my life, I would only wish it was forever. She is the definition of love: love for what she did, love on how she did it and love for who she did it. And that will never go away.

We’ve missed having Liz at work in the office and until recently had hoped that she’d be back with us. It was a shock to find out that, at such a young age, she wouldn’t ever be coming back. What I loved most about working with her was her forthright, direct manner. She said what she meant and meant what she said – all with a sense of humour. She was a positive, up-beat, can-do person who lead by example and was always willing to put the work in. Our lives in Met Éireann are poorer without her. RIP.

Liz and I first met in late 2016, joining Met Éireann on the same day. Liz was always such a tremendous support and we worked well as a team. Liz was always so driven and determined to achieve, always learning and expanding her knowledge. She filled the room with energy, laughter, compassion and a great wit.

I will also be eternally grateful to Liz for how supportive she was to me during my brother’s illness in 2019&2020.

Liz will be sorely missed by everyone she met and it was a privilege to have been lucky enough to have known her for the last 9 years.

I hope you can find some solace in the months ahead in the knowledge that Liz achieved and gave so much during her life.

I joined the same choir as Liz a few years ago and one rehearsal found myself sitting between herself and Claire, and I sought them out every rehearsal after that because their wit, banter, and they way they bounced off each other was infectious! Liz had a twinkle in her eye, a gorgeous voice, and was a force to be reckoned with. She knew what she stood for and remained steady when others wavered. I’m so glad I got to know her over the last few years and witness her special friendship with Claire. Very hard to believe she’s gone but clearly the impact she had on those around her will live on! Some woman for one woman.

Miriam, Martha, Maggie and Charlotte, I am so sorry for your loss. Liz was so welcoming and supportive when I started in the forecast office, she was always up for a laugh and never afraid to speak her mind, making it much easier to settle in. The whole office was in shock when we heard the sad news, we can't believe she won't be back, striding in in a cool outfit, earrings swinging, curls bouncing, eyes sparkling, keeping her calm even when a storm is on the way.

She was a colleague first and after my retirement we would meet in our little choir in work, a fellow alto, with a beautiful voice and so able. I always felt joy when she was beside me singing. A feminist. The owner of a joyful hearty laugh and a giver of great hugs. I will always think of her on cool, crisp, blue sky days because she always said how much she loved that kind of weather. Dear Martha and family. Im so sad and sorry to hear that Lizzie has passed away. She was my childhood friend and i am privileged to have known her. Although its been many years since we were pals, i remember her infectious laugh and good humor. I was always in awe of her quick intelligence. Liz was an incredible person. So genuine, fun, professional, caring, honest, an amazing colleague and friend. Working closely with her these past years was such a pleasure. She had a fantastic sense of humour and was always up for the craic.

I will always treasure a few special trips to the Forty Foot in Summer '24 after a tough few years with her health. We swam, we chatted, we laughed, we cried, we skipped up the pier.
