Dear Bet, since first meeting you in Shannon in the early 1960’s you have been a dearly loved friend.

So sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. She’s was a lovely woman, so elegant and always smiling.
I remember my first time to go to church in Skerries and she insisted that Matt & I sat in ‘her’ pew - what a lovely gesture and one that made me feel very welcome.

I was a former pupil of Betty's in Holm Patrick school Skerries, and remember her fondly from childhood, always present at church, and always Miss Kavanagh she was a constant in my life for many years, to my younger self she was mystery, traveling to far away places. Her presence will be missed by many. May she rest in peace.

To all of Betty's family, and I still call her Miss Kavanagh, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Betty, she was my primary school teacher, and a great one!! I have such fond memories of my time spent in Holmpatrick National School!! I remember Summer terms when she used to come to the beach with us when we were collected from school!! I still have a beautiful pen which Miss Kavanagh gave to me, when I qualified as a primary school teacher too!! May Betty rest in peace x
