Ciaran, Aisling, and Anna, I am so sorry you have lost your beautiful, courageous, and loving Liz. She fought a hard battle to stay with her beloved family and tribe. She was a special friend and colleague, I was blessed and privileged to work with her in both her group analytic and adult education worlds. Liz embodied equality, social justice, sustainability, and transformative learning. She was a gentle and persistent warrior committed to her colleagues and learners and believed passionately in the power of the group. I will miss her curiosity, wonder, commitment, sense of humour, elegance and kindness, Liz left the world a better place then she found it. Go gently Liz, codladh sámh.
Beautiful words spoken yesterday at Liz's Celebration of Life. Such love, appreciation and fondness; she will certainly been missed by family, friends and colleagues. Rest in Peace.
R.B. (retired Cdetb Literacy Organiser).
My deepest sympathies to Liz family. I was honoured to work with her in the past. She was an inspiring person to work with and kind and generous to all around her. RIP Liz.
A deeply felt death - yet I sense Liz's face and demeanour is etched in all our mind / hearts - for her qualities of listening, inquiry and equanimity were rare. She was striking in her intellect and commitment to the 'vital' nature of Education, Community Culture and role of Creativity. And the core values she drew on - in both a visionary way and in confronting resistances - were true to raising consciousness / confidences and stimulating the natural intrinsic skills of so many people and local areas, engaged in redressing inequalities still stubbornly embedded in Irish society. Her life was demonstrably one of dignified public service and her private self - authentic, insightful and humorous - deserves a profound epitaph. May her husband, children, friends and wider tribe find deep lasting solace in her enduring being and example. Spiorid annamh ag ardú.
My sincere condolences to Ciaran, Aisling, Anna and Liz's extended family.
I had the privilege of working with Liz for many years. She was a good friend and a supportive colleague. We had a shared interest in literature and nature and I always enjoyed our conversations.
"Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower ;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay."
(Robert Frost)
Rest in peace Liz.
