I was very sad last night to receive news of Elsie’s death . I called to see her after Jim died and we had a catch up after so many years .Sprightly resolute and independent such character .
Elsie Leary looked after me when I was a young child and seventy years later I have still fond memories of her kindness to me . In my study I have a photo taken in the front garden of her home in St Aidans about 1952/3 and Pat Creane could not do a better job .
My affection for Elsie has not diminished over the years and her death closes another chapter of growing up in my home town .
May I sincerely express my condolences on your loss and my sorrow that I cannot attend her final journey tomorrow to Mylie Jim and Lisa her children and their families Seamus Margo and especially Johnnie I will be thinking of you all tomorrow take comfort from the fact that Elsie led a fulfilling and long life loved by all you knew her .
