So shocking and heartbreaking. Sincere condolences Niamh, and to the O'Reilly family, the Gavin family, relatives and friends. She was a big part of so many fun nights and happy times. Even after I left Ireland, Emer never missed a birthday or Christmas card. And a visit home was never complete without a catch-up with the Gavin girls. A beautiful, loyal, loving and caring friend. She will be missed by so many. Rest in peace Emer.

I am heartbroken at the very sad news that my beautiful friend Emer has passed. We met in our early twenties when we both worked in Coras Trachtala and have been firm friends ever since. Emer was my friend for 27 years since we met at National Irish Bank. She never forgot a birthday or to send a card out of blue, just to say she was thinking of you. Emer was the most thoughtful, loyal & genuine of friends. She was enormously proud of Jack & Hannah and completely besotted with Gerry. She loved her family wholeheartedly. May you all find the strength to grieve her huge loss, and in time remember how lucky you all were to have been loved by her. Ar deis Dé go raibh a anam.

Out of the blue I would get a lovely card or text message from this special lady, saying she was thinking of me or just checking in to see how I was.
