I am shocked and saddened at Eoin’s sudden passing and I want to offer my sincere sympathy to Carmel and all the family. Our paths first crossed when he worked in DOE and then later in Leinster House. He was a great character, a warm and compassionate man who loved people and for whom it was easy to make and keep good friends. Meeting Eoin was always a pleasure and to have known him, a privilege. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

I was sorry to hear of Eoin's untimely passing. Sincere condolences to his family. I met Eoin firstly in Leinster House and enjoyed many outings with the late Mike Burns. Eoin and I often met on the DART heading into various matches. He will be missed, no doubt himself and Mike have joined up and are at another 'outing'.

While I have some wonderful memories of Eoin one in particular stands out. While cheering participants in the Dublin Marathon adjacent to Mulligan’s pub in Poolbeg Street along came Eoin striding confidently on his way to the finish and I gave him the loudest encouragement I could muster. He subsequently immortalised the moment in a wonderful article he penned about his run in the PSEU Review. He never forgot his friends. May he rest in peace.

Can I offer my sympathy and Condolences to you Carmel and the wider family on the sudden death of Eoin. I have had Eoin as a true trade union colleague since the late eighties when he was President of his trade union PSEU. He was a true and committed Irish trade
unionist. Unfortunately I had to listen to him chirping on his beloved Leinster every time they beat Ulster. A true friend who never missed sending me a postcard while travelling for "the system" or on holidays.
Irreplaceable! RIP.
