Eóin McGEE

Deepest sympathies to the McGee family on the passing of Eoin.

Eoin had brain cancer for over half his adult life, but achieved great things despite his illness.

He stayed physically and mentally active to the end.

He got married and raised two great kids.

He was a great old friend to many and made lots of new friends.

Some of the treatment he received was very painful for him, particularly in his final years.

He always bore this pain with serenity and dignity, which is a good example for us all to follow.

So sorry to hear of Eoin’s passing. One of the earliest friends I made in Pres Glasthule. A great guy always full of fun. Rest in peace Eóin

Dear Sarah and Conor,

We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Eoin’s passing. Though it has been some time since we last saw him, we will always cherish his twinkling smile, kind-hearted nature, and quick wit. Eoin took immense pride in his beautiful, talented children and did an incredible job raising them. He truly was a remarkable man.

So sad to hear of the passing of my great friend, Eoin. My heartfelt condolences to Fabian and Arthur, to Conor and Sarah, to Rory and all his family, friends and loved ones. I am very sorry I am unable to be there at this difficult time. From the countless adventures with Gasóga Mara to Trinity night life and girlfriends, and weddings and children, and ‘Leinster’, Eoin was the one of my closest friends. He was a scholar and a true gentleman whose infectious positivity enlightened all who had the pleasure. It was an absolute honour to have known him and I feel very grateful to have shared so many great times together. May you rest in peace my friend.

I was very sorry to hear of Eoin’s passing. I got to know him a little better in recent years, and always found him to be a genuinely kind, honest and decent person. He faced his long illness with quiet strength and dignity. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

My memories of Eoin from our college days are of a good-natured, fun guy who always had a smile on his face. He will be sadly missed.

My brothers Jonathan and Giles remember Eoin well from their days in the Gasoga Mara in Dun Laoghaire and our late father Chris Bruce taught Eoin when he was a student at Kevin Street. I will always remember the warm welcome Eoin and Carol gave our daughter Juliette at Sarah's seventh birthday party when she first joined DSP.
