Eoin SWEENEY

On behalf of the IEA OES executive committee, we would like to send our sincere condolences – we were all very fortunate to share from Eoins knowledge, professionalism and humour in his many years serving on the IEA OES executive committee – we will all miss him.

Eoin was a much respected leader with true insight, with a delightful and convivial manner that endeared him to all of us lucky enough to have made him a friend. My deepest condolences to his family, who he loved so dearly. May his devotion and cherished memory provide comfort during this sorrowful time.

Eoin made friends with people within seconds of meeting. A great story teller and leader. His loss touches us all.

Eoin was such a positive broad thinking influence on so many of us. As a fellow traveller in the world of prostate cancer, he shared his wry assessment that he was likely on a harder path ; his positive attitude was tempered by his concern for his young family. I am so sorry for them; he made sure they are a part of our lives by engaging them at the ICOE 2012.

We will work to ensure that his contribution to a brave new world is remembered.

When I think about my moments with Eoin, I always remember a smile.

Eoin was an inspiring person full of positive energy and readiness to share. His presence made any meeting and any conversation worthwhile. This is a meaningful loss to us, but much more to his family to whom we express our deepest sympathy.

So sad to hear of poor Eoin's passing. He was a true character and pioneer. If a good life is lived by leaving your mark behind, Eoin lived a great life. His work, his passions and his gravely laugh will live long in the minds of anyone who knew him or has a connection with the marine sector.

I am very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

At college and after, Eoin was a brother and comrade, and it's one of my great regrets that we didn't see more of each other in recent decades.
