Those of us in Ardglass Golf Club in Co. Down who new Eric were all deeply saddened to learn of his death.
The world has lost yet another true gentleman.

Joan, Gillian, and Ian. my deep condolences to you and the entire family. I only just found out this morning, and I just watched the service which moved me to tears a few times. It was so wonderful to hear Ian, Gillian and Emma speak and to get a glimpse of the legacy Eric left behind in their hearts and minds. There are very few people like Eric on this planet, and I always remember him as kind and calm, and generous, and he was a true humble pillar of the community in Malahide. Whenever I was walking home from my dad's shop I would always pass the Pottery Shop, and I believe I was cut a deal at least once as a young customer when I needed a present for my mum. I pray for a relentless peace for Joan, Gillian and Ian, and for each heart and mind in the family in the coming days, months and years.

I was so sorry to read of the recent death of Eric. I have many fond memories of some wonderful conversations with him during my days with Cavan Crystal. It is with great sadness to hear of our former Group Scout Leader Eric Crampton who has passed away.
Eric played a pivotal role in Scouting in Malahide from supporting as a parent, friend and taken on the most senior role as Group Scout Leader.
His energy and enthusiasm towards the youth of Malahide benefitted many a young persons welfare and something we are very grateful for in the 9th Port of Dublin Malahide Sea Scouts.

To Joan and family, may I offer my sincere sympathies. I knew Eric for many many years, since we joined Beaverstown Golf Club. He was such a nice man, he always had time to stop and have a chat whenever we met.

Eric put his heart and soul into everything he undertook and was a staunch member of the Chamber of Commerce in Malahide and took on numerous roles in Beaverstown, including Club Marshall on many occasions.
