Eric Lynch

Sincere sympathies to all the Lynch family on the passing of their dad a truly iconic man . I like so many had the honour of being in his class during my wonderful years in Limerick CBS . Every class with him offered something different and always interesting. He could turn dull into an amazing wonderland . I am so sorry that I missed the removal and funeral of this brilliant teacher , father and man . May he rest in peace with the ages .

I had the privilege to have Eric Lynch for my English teacher in 1972 & 73 when I attended Limerick CBS. Eric was a gifted teacher and his qualities as a teacher and a man were innate. To say we are all better off for having known him would be an understatement.

Dear Máire, Orla, Chris, and Liam, our deepest sympathy to all of you on your sad loss and also to Eric's grandchildren whom he loved so much.
Eric had so much to give and gave it generously. He had such a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of life, and we learned so much from him at our weekly Irish group where we had great banter. He will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathies to the Lynch family you Dad was such a gentleman and a character. Eric taught me for 5 years in CBS sexton street and I can say one thing he was a fantastic teacher, so kind and thoughtful to all his pupils and a brilliant storyteller. Over the last few months I to see Eric in town on Saturday and he would always stop for a chat what a wonderful man. May you rest in peace Eric and thank you for all you did for me in CBS. 💐

He was truly a fantastic and committed teacher, who really cared about his pupils and about how they got on both academically and more importantly in life. He tried to predict, as best he could, what would be asked in exams and put every effort into preparing students for them.

His dedication was truly 100 per cent and extended to his work with the school soccer team as noted by Mick Moore and Ger Younger among others; he was keenly interested in fishing and nature in general, which I was aware of also though my dad

As in other tributes including in Irish, he was unequalled.

I had Mr. Lynch for Leaving Cert English. He made it entertaining and relatable and was great with his jokes. His classes were always something to look forward to as and he had a great passion for literature which he instilled in us.

My First encounter with Eric was in the early eighties,there was a knock on my front door about 10.30pm on a sunday night i opened the door standing there was Eric and Jack Nash they were returning home from a Pointer and Setter Trail and called by to have a chat and a cup of tea. And there began our 40years friendship Eric was a Pointer and Setter man and i a Spanial man.I have very fond memories of my visit's to Limerick where Eric would take me to "The Hill",to show me his latest Pup like wise when he came to Dublin i would take him to Bull Island.We were both involved in The Irish Field Trail Association and we would have a chat every few weeks.We spoke last when Eric was in Hospital.
I shall miss my Dear Friend.

My deepest sympathies to the Lynch family. I had the pleasure of teaching with Eric in sexton street towards the end of his career. One of my first days in the school a fight broke out in the yard and i shouted at them to stop. They quickly dispersed in all directions and i was amazed they had listened, until i turned around and saw Eric behind me with his sleeves pulled up. He said nothing just laughed and walked on. The man had some presence. Rest in peace Eric.

Sincere condolences to a wonderful colleague, Orla, and to all of Orla’s family, as you begin to mourn the loss of Eric. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. The warm memories and tributes filling these pages are evidence of a life so well lived, and hopefully they are a balm and comfort for your family.

I was taught in primary school in Killaloe by Eric’s mother Nora,like Eric,a dedicated teacher. Eric was great friends with my late uncle John R.IP. and it was through that friendship that Eric became known to us as young children. Even at that young age we could see that Eric was one of those special people . His witty stories would have us in fits of laughter as he told us of some escapade or other that he was involved in with my uncle. In later years he helped me search for college digs in Galway and I was proud to have him at my graduation. It was always great to meet him and difficult to tear ourselves away from his company. I remember seeing something that someone wrote about him “ go and seek out this man, he will enrich your life” . There was never a truer word written .The world was a better place while he was in it.

Very sad to hear the passing of a great teacher. I made sure I had my homework done for Eric. It was the sheer presence of a giant of a man. Great memories of a fine teacher and man and also many great teachers from that era. I look back with great memories still remembered and revelled in today. RIP Eric (apologies for any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors)
