Dear Sam, Fae and Lucas, Laura and family of Erwin,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. My and Niels' sincere condolences to you.
My whole working life at AerCap was connected to Erwin and I will always remember him for all he taught me, his valuable support and generosity to me, his creative force in the business and his humorous attitude (and, of course, singing!) during social events. So many fond memories. It is an honour to have met and worked with him.
His star will continue to inspire.

I am so sad to learn that Erwin has past away last weekend. Please accept, on behalf of Eddie and myself our deepest sympathy, also for your children and Erwin's parents, brother and sister.
I have worked with Erwin since 2002 and he has always impressed me with his endless energy, his ability to manage even the most complex processes and his good temper. Without Erwin AerCap would not be what it is today!

Yesterday I was shocked by hearing the message of Erwins death. During and shortly after my student years I often saw Erwin. We undertook lots of activities with the 'roeiploeg'. We visited lots of nice parties and every wednesday we had dinner with each other, the so called 'ploeghap'.
I remember Erwin as a very active person, clearly present, full of humour, a hard laugh, full of ambition but also as a sensitive guy that was interested in others.
Two events I remember the best. One was a party at Emile's place. Emile was also a member of the roeiploeg. In Erwins house we came together to prepare us for the party. Erwin was in the middle of the room loudly singing old songs of Clearance Clearwater Revival, especially "looking out my back door". Doing that he was sitting on a chair like he was sitting on a horse. Everyone was singing with him, but he was the clear initiator of alle the fun!
The other event was his bachelor day. The man with the bank that already had been cancelled. Still they came, with the bank to his house. Erwin was furious...!! The whole roeiploeg did see and film this meeting. Really hilarious!! Oh wat a fun we had with each other.
I will remember Erwin as a very nice, cheerful and warm guy. I really regret his death!

It is with deep sadness I learned of Erwin’s passing away! It is only 5 minutes ago it seems we were in Spain where we all where and were at the karaoke singing Carpenter songs, we’ve only just begon to live! My sincere condolances to you and your loved ones,!
