Esther G. HARDY

I remember fondly Ms Hardy’s Irish classes in the Holy Child Killiney. She had a great talent for making learning both interesting and fun and it was lovely to reconnect with her at our last Alumnae lunch.

Her funeral Mass was a fitting tribute to such a wonderful lady.

RIP Esther. I was a neighbour on the third floor in Lisalea for the last few years. It always brightened up my day to bump into her on the corridor for a chat, and the immaculate way she kept the shared terrace garden was always beautiful to admire. My condolences to family and friends.

Sincere sympathy to you, Lisa, and to all Esther's nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, former school colleagues and many golfing friends who will miss her dearly. Esther taught for a number of years in Scoil Chroí Íosa NS Ballina. She was always a very talented, dedicated teacher who had a great interest in each pupil with whom she shared her huge interest in music and choirs. Esther and I had a Hole in One in the same week in Delgany Golf Club and joined the HIOGS on the same day. She very kindly offered to be Secretary of the Society when I was Captain, and I know that she was honoured when she herself became Captain. I was so sad to hear of her death and offer my condolences to her family whom she spoke of so fondly. I'm so sorry not to be able to attend her funeral as I'm in the U.S. but will watch it online. I'm sure she had an even bigger smile than usual when she entered heaven!

I was saddened to hear of the death of my dear colleague and friend, Esther.
For 27 years we worked side by side in the Holy Child school, Killiney and from the beginning of my career she showed me great kindness and generosity. As a young teacher finding my way, her support meant more than I can say. I will always be grateful for the friendship we shared and the steady presence she was in my professional life.
In her final days her strong personal faith was a deep source of strength and peace, also a comfort to those around her. My thoughts are with her family and those who knew and loved her.

Ms Dobbyn, who became Mrs, Hardy while she was our Irish teacher at HCK, had that great combination of bring both strict but very funny. I had great respect for her and remember her very fondly from schooldays. It was lovely to get together and chat with her at a HCK Alumnae event a couple of years ago, after which she wrote to say how much she had enjoyed herself. May she rest in peace.

So sad to hear of Ester’s passing. Such a warm and vivacious personality, we’ll miss you Ester.

So sorry to read in this mornings paper of Esthers death RIP. Met you both on a cruise in October 2023 remember her as great fun with a wonderful zest for life my condolences to you.

I was only a young teenager when you arrived to teach Irish at the Holy Child, Killiney way back in the seventies.
Even though I interrupted your lunch break time and time again because you were so kind and always willing to listen when I was feeling sad, you never, ever complained or made me feel bad.
I have lived in Australia for over 40 years but you and I got together 18 months or so ago when I was home for a school reunion and we had the most wonderful time. You hadn’t changed a bit! Thank you, Esther, for making such a difference in my life, I will be forever grateful. Deepest condolences to all your friends and family.

So sad to hear of demise of dear Aunt Esther.Esther was vivacious and a kind lady.She enjoyed her teaching career and retirement years.Esther was a special lady our dear aunt.May she rest in peace now with her husband Tom and other deceased family. Remembering Ms Dobbyn (Mrs Hardy) with great fondness, who gave me a love of the Irish language. As my daughter Laura McAllister has already said, she was a very glamorous teacher in Holy Child Killiney! May she now rest in peace.

What an elegant, glamorous and kind teacher was Mrs Hardy! We would try to get her to talk about her dog in class to distract from teaching. I was so honoured to work alongside her in Lourdes and her support to me as a student in school! My condolences to all her family and friends.

So sorry to hear the news that Ms Hardy passed away. I have such fond memories of her as my teacher in Holy Child Killiney and I was lucky enough to go to Lourdes with her too for a few years. She was always up for the fun and we all adored her. She was so fabulous in every way, she brightened up the school corridors with her smile and her style.
