I really was shocked to hear of Ethel's sudden passing while I was away. Deepest condolences to her family. It was so lovely to be in her company. I greatly admired her artistic talent & she always supported & encouraged me. Sleep well with the angels Ethel and paint the sky an azure blue 🕊️.

I am in complete shock since I heard of my friend, Ethel’s passing. Since we started school together in Ballindine,many years ago,our relationship was a constant. She was a pleasant,understanding and positive lady with a great approach to life. I miss her and pray the peace and happiness of heaven be hers.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ethel’s passing. A dear friend of my mum’s and our whole family. A wonderfully kind person. We’ll always treasure the beautiful painting she made us for our wedding a gesture that now means even more. Her warmth and creativity will not be forgotten.

Dear members of the Balfe family, friends and neighbours of Ethel,

I am so saddened that such a lovely, creative, thoughtful, obliging, giving and positive lady has left us. Her sudden passing makes it all the more unbelievable and harder to comprehend.

Ethel was a constant in Dangan Heights for over 40 years and I would say the best known person who lived there as she had a word for everyone. She was also well known on her daily walk across the road in Dangan.

She even had visits from ‘her’ seagull whom she feed each day, such was her love of all animals. When my little dog died she put together a card with Chloe’s photo (that she bothered to source) and included a poem on the loss of a pet. Who else would go to this trouble?

We were in the local poetry workshops together and she championed the haikus giving us a deeper insight into this form of structuring a poem and we found her knowledge both informative and enjoyable.

Ethel lived her life as a true Christian.

Our world has lost a kind and gentle soul.

Rest in peace dear Ethel.

I was deeply shocked and saddened when I heard of Ethel's sudden death
yesterday and I send my deepest condolences to Anne,Noreen and Liam. We were classmates in Tuam in the 50's and so glad we met up again a few years ago. She was always full of fun and saw good in everyone.
She is singing now with the Angels Above.
