Dear Valerie and family, i was so saddened to hear of Eugene's passing recently.

Eugene was special, such a great man, an example to us all, with his warmth and humble disarming charm and humour.

His presence lifted peoples spirits, with his infectious smile and he had an uncanny ability to magically make people feel so welcomed and comfortable in his company. Everyone loooked forward to meeting or running into Eugene and Val.

You should be very proud as he was so widely, loved by so many people. The sunshine and warmth that radiated from Eugene will always be remembered by those truly privileged and lucky enough to have known him.

He had a vitality, a curiosity, a penetrating intelligence and the kindness to encourage others and make them feel valued. Sending you so much love at this incredibly difficult time. I have such fond memories of Eugene throughout my childhood, and most recently at Evan & Hannah's wedding in 2022.

On hearing of his passing, our Dad remarked to us that there are some people you meet who change the course of your life for the better... that was Euge for him, and my mum and judging from the wonderful tributes to him last Saturday, for so many others.

Eugene was one of the good guys..........an extremely nice nice person, and one of many gifts and talents as we learned at his funeral yesterday. I was profoundly saddened to learn that your magnificent husband/brother/father, Eugene, had died on Christmas morning.

Eugene was one of the most lovable and admirable men it’s been my privilege to know (since we were schoolboys roaming the teenage Dublin ‘scene’ together in the mid-70s) and it was a joy recently to renew our friendship and to find that he was as great company as ever, but even wiser and kinder.

It is humbling and inspiring to see and hear that so many other people felt blessed by being Eugene’s friend, colleague or relation.
